HARPOONS
In Abyss, players do not use fishing rods. Instead, the primary method of catching fish is using Harpoon Guns. You must aim and fire your harpoon at fish swimming in the open ocean to initiate a catch.
How Capture Works

Catching a fish involves a two-step process: Damage and the Minigame.
1. Weakening the Fish When you fire your gun, you deal damage to the fish.
- Small/Common Fish: Can often be caught instantly if your gun's Damage stat is high enough.
- Large/Rare Fish: Will require multiple shots to weaken. Once their health is depleted, the Minigame begins.
2. The Minigame Once hooked, a capture bar appears on the screen.
- Goal: Keep the fish icon inside the Green Zone.
- Capture: The progress bar on the right will fill up as long as you maintain stability. If the bar fills completely, the fish is added to your inventory.
Weapon Stats Explained

Every Gun has 3 unique stats that determine its effectiveness:
- Damage (DMG): Determines how much health you remove from a fish per shot. Higher damage allows you to catch dangerous fish faster before you run out of oxygen.
- Control: Determines the difficulty of the minigame. A higher Control stat makes it easier to catch fish.
- Cooldown: The time it takes to reload between shots. Lower cooldowns are essential for fast-moving fish that require rapid shots.
